Floor Drain Service in NYC

Basement, laundry and garage drains — cleared, and kept clear on a schedule if you want.

The basement floor drain gurgles, smells, or worse — sends water the wrong way when it rains or when the laundry runs. Floor drains are the lowest point in the building, so they're the first place any drainage problem shows up.

A floor drain that backs up is rarely just the drain: it's telling you about the line beneath it — the house trap, the house drain, or the main sewer. We clear the drain, then check the line it feeds so the fix actually holds.

Dry, smelly floor drains are their own problem: an evaporated trap lets sewer gas straight into the building. Sometimes the fix is water and a trap primer; sometimes the trap is broken. We'll tell you which, honestly.

For laundries, boiler rooms and commercial basements, we offer scheduled maintenance so floor drains are cleared before the storm, not after the flood.

Questions we hear about floor drains

Why does my basement drain back up when it rains?
Either the house drain/sewer is partially blocked and rain pushes it over the edge, or the city main surcharges in heavy storms. A camera tells us which — one is fixable by cleaning, the other calls for a check valve.
What's that sewer smell from the floor drain?
Usually an evaporated or broken trap. If the trap holds water and still smells, the line beneath may be blocked and venting through the drain — worth an inspection before it becomes a backup.
Can you install backwater valves?
We diagnose and clear; where a check valve is the right fix we'll show you the camera evidence and scope the work with you before anything is installed.
